Shane Kunz

Shane is a Vice President in Accordion’s Operational and Technical Accounting Practice with nearly nine years of internal audit, corporate accounting, and process improvement experience at both small and publicly traded companies. This includes global companies – with operations throughout the Americas, EMEA and APAC – that span a number of industries, including IT and aerospace aviation.

With Accordion, Shane has partnered with key stakeholders to support clients’ operational and technical accounting needs. He has performed financial close assessments, business unit analysis, financial statement preparation, NetSuite chart of account mapping, and policy & procedural documentation.

Before joining Accordion, Shane spent seven years working in corporate accounting. Most recently, at Gartner (NYSE: IT), he successfully implemented and maintained the accounting for ASC842/IFRS16 (Leases) to comply with US GAAP and IFRS for all of their real estate locations. During his time there, a digital close management tool was implemented, where he posted journal entries, converted account reconciliations from Excel, and added month end close tasks. Additionally, he was responsible for creating detailed process instructions and reviewing account reconciliations prepared by others. Shane was selected by management to be a mentor to a new hire including training of key systems for new employees.

Shane started his career as an Internal Auditor at AAR Corp (NYSE: AIR), where he was responsible for performing audit and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOx 404) testing for its multiple multinational business units. Later at AAR Corp, he shifted into a Corporate Accountant role where he was responsible for the month-end close activities of the Corporate Dept and maintained the fixed asset subledger and chart of accounts management.

Shane graduated from North Central College with a B.A. in Accounting and Business Management. He also holds the CPA designation with the State of Illinois.
